Ice Play

A frozen pond’s surface is canvas for a sequence of actions - sensorial, meaningless, and absurd: a leashed rock circling the hard ice surface; a woman chasing her thoughts: ice sanding, cutting, measuring. Is the pond our meaningless void? Can a torch melt the ice and create rain? Are we all falling in?

Fallen Sticks

Collaged tree branches were thrown I-Ching (the book of change) style, and created unique free-fall forms and then the image was captured by camera. Each “throw” gives a unique image that carries a message for the interpreter.

The Floating Frog

A domestic bourgeoisie lifestyle where engagement with the natural world happens in modest ways. At times it is comical, at times quite tragic. The parallel of lightening bugs with construction lights. Deer chasing, turkeys trotting, people walking, or reversing time in places to capture the primordial moment or symbolic gesture. In a world heavily constructed by man, man’s existence seems frequently to be above or in conflict with nature.
